Color Theory

In Pairs: Analyze Keith Haring's artwork. What is it about?

Discuss how he used the following elements and principles:

Line
Color
Pattern
Movement

As a Class: Create a list of characteristics to describe Keith Haring's style.

Demo: Turn a stick figure into a Keith Haring style figure.

Sketchbook Activity: Divide two pages into 4 boxes each (vertical and horizontal line). We need volunteers who can come up with fun, crazy poses and hold them for 30 seconds while the class sketches.

Final Project:
  • Pick your favorite figure sketches to use in your final artwork. At least 5 figures.
  • Cover all faces of the form of your choice with figures
  • Use proper marker technique to fill all spaces and create bold, varied color schemes.
